In 1882, Maplegate was founded on the backs of men who believed in the town's deep Earth potential. What started as a small mining community blossomed into a townwide family of folks with hope in their spirits and love in their hearts. Maplegate thrives on community and helping out your fellow neighbour. We share this space, this Earth, and with that comes a responsibility to one another. Maplegate isn't just the best town in Ontario, it's the best town in the world!
Maplegate is not without tragedy, but it is a testament to our spirit, flesh and blood that we persevere. The 1976 mining collapse was a devastating loss for all of us, those brave 23 men who risked their lives for the good of the town will always be remembered deep within our hearts. Their memorial stands proudly next to the growing minds of Maplegate, as a reminder of what we have lost, and what we are striving towards. The memorial is currently closed following the '94 sinkhole, we hope to reopen it soon.
